Innovation is the practical implementation of ideas that result in the introduction of new goods or services or improvement in offering goods or services. It is also a process by which a domain, a product, or a service is renewed and brought up to date by applying new processes, introducing new techniques, or establishing successful ideas to create new value. The creation of value is a defining characteristic of innovation.

Paper waste is any form of paper that's no longer usable and needs disposing. It's essentially the kind of material we'd class as 'scrap paper'. For example, it could be old newspaper, bills, or letters. It needs to be free from contaminants to be recyclable. How is recycled paper used? The recycled paper is wound on to huge rolls before being cut and dispatched to make new products including cardboard, newsprints and office paper. It may also be used to produce items such as labels, bags and gift cards. However, we the entrepreneur want a new product of paper waste which is the paper coal but first we’ve interviewed teaches and consumers. Our group, consisting of eleven members, including Abegail Endrina, Aljun Cansa, Carla Capuyan, Denzil Binghay, Jamaica Domine, Jana Llacuna, Jessie Boyles, Jinky Malicia, Remuel Becada, Isabel Dechosa, and Trisha Jabla, reached a consensus. We have structured questions to ask and this is how it goes.

Informants 1 and 2

A grade five teacher from Davao Oriental says that the paper is frequently used in their classroom and workplaces for daily needs and the problem with it is related to the environmental concerns and logistics in the same cases. Excessive paper use can have a substantial impact on the environment and cutting it down can benefit both businesses and the planet. The second informant is also a teacher states that the students are lack of available technologies to integrate during the teaching and learning process and materials. But it said that after checking and recording the papers to the student it will be returned to the owners. Nevertheless, some of it are disposed properly and recycled in the next activities if it’s still usable. Paper is a useful material at school, but it is still good to find ways to avoid wasting it.

Informants 3 and 4

The next informant teacher stated that it always asks their students to do their activities in paper since the subject is creative writing. But also, in some instance the students allowed to use social media in some time needed. Proceeding to the next informant’s, it express that it uses paper everyday but so far it doesn’t have a problem because it was segregated the trashed so it wouldn’t be hard to dispose it. Poor waste management - ranging from non-existing collection systems to ineffective disposal -causes air pollution, water and soil contamination. If we minimize use of paper and find better ways of recycling paper, many trees and forests can be saved as a conclusion in the informants 2 and 3.

Informants 5 and 6

The next informant’s problem is the garbage disposal. They tend to request the barangay to get the segregated garbage and it is also appropriate to handing those problem. Even so, these teacher use paper all the time and throw it all in dumpsite. When paper is disposed of in landfill rather than recycled, it creates methane as it breaks down. Methane is a major greenhouse gas that contributes to global warming with a life span 21 times longer than carbon dioxide. Even so, it is a big problem because paper can be recycled in many ways. As a teacher, we will be maximized the usage of it due to the fact that it can create a trouble not only for our environment but also for ourselves.

Participant 7-8 are Business Owners

Last, the informant’s 6 and 7 are a business owner particularly barbeque business owners. Now, the interview goes like this. The challenge in their business is to failed, gather costumers, maintaining consistent quality, managing food safety, dealing with weather-related competition for outdoor grilling, competition, and supply chain issued for sourcing ingredients. In dealing with the challenges charcoal is generally cheaper than other fuel sources, making it cost-effective for businesses. Charcoal grilling imparts a smoky flavor to the food, which many people find appealing. The disadvantage is about the environment because charcoal production can have environmental impacts, and some customers may prefer businesses that use cleaner fuel sources. Charcoal allows for a hotter and longer-cooking fire without having to add more fuel. The flavor imparted by charcoal grilling is more well-rounded than gas but less so than wood. As your food cooks, juice drips on the charcoal, creating steam that will add more flavor to your food. It is very nice to use charcoal.

HYPOTHESIS, OPTIONS, HYPOTHESIS TESTING, AND DECISION!

Group Discussion

Hypothesis for Food Vendors

Hypothesis 1. Food vendors who primarily use coal as a cooking fuel face more challeng related to environmental regulons and health concerns compared ose who use alternative cooking methods.

Hypothesis 2. Food vendors who face challenges with coal availability and supply disruptions are more likely to explore and adopt alternative cooking methods to sustain their businesses.

Options to Test the Hypothesis (Food Vendors)

Option 1. Survey a sample of food vendors. who use coal and another sample who use alternative cooking methods to assess their experiences with environmental regulations and health concerns. Compare the results to determine if there's a significant difference

Option 2. Conduct interviews with food vendors who have experienced coal supply disruptions to understand their decision- making process and whether they considered alternative cooking methods as a response.

Option 3. Compare the how food vendors adapt to alternative cooking methods in the locality with varying degrees of coal availability and reliability to determine if there's a correlation between coal availability and the adoption of alternatives

locality with varying degrees of coal availability and reliability to determine if there's a correlation between coal ili and the adoption of alternatives.

Hypothesis for Teachers

Hypothesis 1. Teachers who use paper frequently in their classrooms ог workplaces encounter more problems with paper disposal, and there might be room for improvement in their disposal methods.

Hypothesis 2. Teachers who actively seek and implement environmentally friendly paper disposal practices in their classrooms perceive their approach as appropriate and responsible.

Options to Test the Hypothesis (Teachers)

Option 1. Survey teachers to assess the frequency of paper use and the challenges they face with paper disposal. Analyze the results to determine if there's a correlation between paper use and disposal issues.

Option 2. Conduct interviews with teachers who report problems with paper disposal to gather hhts into their current disposal metho and identify potential areas for yement.

Option 3. Survey teachers to understand their awareness of and commitment to eco- friendly paper disposal practices. Analyze the data to determine if those who actively seek eco-friendly options perceive their approach as appropriate.

Innovation is not just about supporting growth; it is also vital for addressing deep social and global challenges, like ageing, resource scarcity, disease and climate change. Innovation spurs education, skills and wellbeing throughout life too. Innovation means using new technology and using new ways of thinking to add value to an existing idea or product and to make substantial changes in society. “The best way to foresee the future is to create it”, which is the best explanation of the importance of innovation.

The innovation project or business that we are going to implement is Paper charcoal. Paper charcoals are made by soaking papers overnight and forming them into fist-sized balls which are left to dry in the sun. Paper charcoal serves as a good alternative fuel for cooking. As an innovative product we’re encouraging the use of paper charcoal as an alternative for fuel is a good practice. Waste paper that would otherwise end up in landfills is given new use as a cooking medium. This will also help reduce dependence on forest wood for cooking. In addition to the cost savings associated with reducing the volume of waste, paper briquettes are more useful in paper mills to create recycled paper than uncompressed shredded material. Compressed briquettes can also be used as fuel for starting fires or as an insulating material.
